The Cockatoo Man

I sat on the edge of the lake, at Hyde Park, about to capture a small duckling paddling toward me. I noticed an unusual figure to the left of my sight.
There stood an old man huddled over his bicycle, reaching into his basket to retrieve his pet cockatoo. As he sat down, he tied his pet cockatoo to his ankle.
I found this individual ever so intriguing, so I wound on my film in my 1983 35mm OM-20 camera, and built up the courage to approach him.

"May I take a photograph of you and your pet cockatoo?" I asked.

As he took a draw from his cigarette and blew out what seemed to be relief and comfort, he said "Sure thing."

I studied this man through the lense.
While I took photographs of him, we spoke for two hours about lifes journey, gambling and the rules of chess.

Zee Hives

I entered a selection of my gig photographs into the "Kiss My Camera" WAMI competition.
My photograph of lead guitarist, Nicholaus Arson, from the ever entertaining and brilliant Swedish band 'The Hives' got through to the finals and was displayed at the West Australian Museum.
This is it.

It was rather exciting, having something that belongs to me, belonging in one of the most fascinating and historic places in Perth. The Hives fancied a couple of my shots and I was asked if a handfull of them could be displayed on their official site.

I said yes.

Sunshine Moondust At The Front Is A Must

I love photography, I love music & I love combining the two.
The following photographs were taken at various gigs through years that have travelled by.
At this stage in my life, I was taking gig shots on nothing but a teeny cybershot digital camera, with a monster crack down the left side of the screen.
I figured out the perfect way to capture the perfect moment through this little lens.
I used nothing but determination to steady my feet in front row, just to be one on one with some of the most respected bands among many.
After fighting to keep your spot as close can be, it's definitely worth it.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club

The Living End

The Killers

Kings Of Leon

British India

The Fratellis

Invading All Types Of Space

One of my kind lecturers once told me, "If you're not close enough to the subject, it's not going to be a good enough photo."
This is something I took on board.

Broom Broom Broken Car

I grew up in a tiny place called Lake Grace.
On each farm, lays history and stories from many a year ago.
I decided to take a look further for myself.
A bit of junk here and there through dirt and dust,
But more so very interesting junk.

The Mid Week Has A Clue

This was a sneaky little show, upstairs in the Wellington Studio. Dark Green Magazine opened the evening and set the mood for listeners and watchers. French & McCarthy were to follow, performing a clever acoustic set. This took the likes of the crowd, complementing their laid back picnics of beer and wine. A grand gig indeed.

To listen to a tad of what I am talking about, I suggest you follow these fun links:
P.S - you won't be disappointed.

Sneaking Sneakily

I spent the afternoon in the recording studio, in Freo with French & McCarthy.
I was lucky enough to have my own headphones, so at the time of shooting, I could also enjoy the sweet sounds making their way out of the rooms.
